Prompt, Reliable Same-Day Visits Available!

It begins like any other ordinary morning, but your dog didn’t touch his breakfast; he’s been shaking his head all night, and the inside of his ear looks angry. He’s not in crisis — but something is clearly wrong, and the idea of waiting until Friday to have someone look at him doesn’t sit well.
That gap is exactly what our same-day care appointments are for.
What a Same Day Drop Off Appointment Actually Is
One thing worth knowing before you head over: same-day visits are arranged by appointment. This allows the veterinary team to plan for your pet’s arrival, assess their needs, and determine the appropriate care. Scheduling ahead also helps coordinate examinations, diagnostics, and follow-up assessments throughout the day.
We’re not a walk-in clinic, so a phone call is always the first step — that way we can make sure we have room for your pet and that a same-day visit is really the right fit for what’s going on.
Here’s how it works. You give us a call, and we talk through your pet’s symptoms together. If our team feels a same-day visit makes sense, we’ll set a drop-off time that works for you. You bring your pet in at that time and leave them with us for part of the day, rather than waiting it out together in an exam room.
That drop-off model is deliberate, and it’s one of the reasons we’re able to offer same-day care at all without compromising the standard of medicine we hold ourselves to.
Why Drop-off Is Better Medicine, Not Just Better Scheduling
When a pet stays at the clinic for a few hours, the veterinary team can work them into the day’s schedule thoughtfully — examining them, running diagnostics, waiting for results, and reassessing their condition — rather than trying to fit everything into a rushed appointment between scheduled visits.
It means we can take a proper history, do bloodwork or imaging if it’s warranted, watch how your pet is doing over a stretch of time, and consult with one another before we call you with a plan. It gives your pet the benefit of unhurried attention, which is how good veterinary medicine actually gets practiced.
Your veterinarian will call you directly once they’ve examined your pet, walk you through what they found, and discuss next steps before anything moves forward. You’ll pick your pet up once their treatment is complete.
What We Can See On A Same-Day Basis
A same-day visit is appropriate when your pet is clearly not feeling well and shouldn’t wait several days for an appointment, but is stable enough to be seen in a general practice setting.
Concerns we commonly handle this way include:
• Vomiting or diarrhea
• Loss of appetite
• Ear infections
• Skin problems, hot spots, and itching
• Limping or sudden lameness
• Eye irritation or discharge
• Changes in urination
• A mild cough
If you’re not sure whether your pet’s situation qualifies, call us anyway. Part of what our team does on that phone call is help you figure out what level of care your pet actually needs – and if that turns out to be somewhere other than here, we’ll tell you.
Outside of our hours, or for any true emergency, we refer to Crown Veterinary Specialists at 908-236-4120 and Animal Emergency and Referral Associates at 973-788-0500.
Our hours
• Monday through Wednesday: 8:00 am – 8:00 pm
• Thursday and Friday: 8:00 am – 6:00 pm
• Saturday: 8:00 am – 2:00 pm
• Sunday: Closed
Same-day availability depends on the day and how full our schedule already is, which is why calling early gives your pet the best chance of being seen. Both current clients and pets who have never been here before are welcome to call.
