Routine wellness care is the foundation to your pet’s best health. Annual or semi-annual visits help us to closely monitor your pet’s health, as well as provide preventative services like vaccines, parasite testing and prevention, and more.
Examinations
There’s a reason we ask all our patients to visit us at least once a year. Your pet’s wellness examination reveals a lot about your pet’s health, helping us to monitor changes throughout your pet’s life and to detect medical concerns early.
During a typical exam, you can expect your veterinarian to conduct a thorough nose-to-tail inspection of your pet’s health, checking the eyes, ears, nose, mouth, skin, paws, and more. Your veterinarian will also listen to the heart and lungs and gently palpate the abdomen and lymph nodes, listening and feeling for irregularities. Just through this simple, non-invasive exam, your veterinarian can establish an overview of your pet’s health. If anything stirs questions or concerns, we may recommend further testing or follow-up visits.
The beauty of the wellness exam is that it helps us detect illness and injury in its earliest stages, when it is easiest to treat. Treating a medical condition before it becomes more serious will increase your pet’s chances of a full and speedy recovery, as well as decrease the cost of treatment. Vaccinations
Vaccines are an essential component of wellness care. Beginning with your puppy or kitten’s first visit, your veterinarian will recommend vaccines to protect your cuddly companion from contagious pet diseases. Tranquility Veterinary Clinic provides core vaccines, which are recommended for all pets, and non-core vaccines, which are recommended on a case-by-case basis, depending on a pet’s risk of exposure.

Parasite Control
Parasites can affect your pet in a range of negative ways, from bowel discomfort to major issues and even death. We’ll help prevent parasites with specialized treatments and help get rid of parasites when they do arrive.
Fecal samples help us to determine whether your pet is parasite-free, and if not, what kinds of parasites we may be dealing with. From there we can prescribe a treatment plan to help.
Microchipping
While collars and tags are important, a microchip is the only permanent, non-removable form of identification available for your pet. Over the years, microchips have helped return millions of lost pets to their families. We recommend microchipping for all our patients, because it is simple, inexpensive, and greatly increases your chances of a successful reunion should your pet ever be lost.
Microchip implantation is a simple, fast procedure, similar to any other injection. For puppies and kittens, we can implant a microchip during the spay/neuter procedure, while your pet is under anesthesia. The microchip is a glass cylinder, about the size of a grain of rice, that holds your pet’s ID number. If your pet is brought to an animal shelter, the shelter can scan for the microchip and identify your pet, ensuring a safe reunion!
Nutrition & Behavior Support for a Healthier, Happier Pet
Maintaining a healthy diet is essential to your pet’s overall health. During your pet’s wellness visit, your veterinarian will evaluate your pet’s weight and make appropriate recommendations. If your pet needs assistance gaining or losing weight, we can suggest the proper diet and exercise regimen to get your pet to their ideal weight.
Our veterinarians are also happy to aid you with behavioral problems. If behaviors like barking, scratching, biting, or digging are making your pet a challenging living companion, we can offer training advice and solutions.
Prescription Medications & Diets
Our on-site pharmacy is well stocked with pet medications and flea, tick, and heartworm preventatives, so that you can get the products your pet needs immediately. As part of our nutritional services, our veterinarians can also prescribe special diets to help manage existing medical conditions, including food allergies, renal failure, liver disease, bladder and kidney stones, and more. We stock prescription foods from Hill’s, Purina, and Royal Canin.
